Maria Estella Aguirre

On Wednesday, April 13, 2021, Maria Estella (Garcia) Aguirre, loving wife and mother of three passed away at age 93.  A native of Grant Park Barrio, she is preceded in death by her husband, Edward L. Aguirre and her daughter, Rachel (Vaquera) Chavez.  She is survived by her brother, Manuel Moreno; her children and their spouses, William & Christina (Vaquera) Solano, Steven & Jill Marie Vaquera, Keith & Ruth Aguirre and Timm & Crystal Aguirre.  She was also blessed with eight grand children, seventeen great grandchildren and thirteen great-great grandchildren.  Always loving and always loved, Stella is carried on in the hearts of cousins, nieces, nephews and many, many friends.  She will be remembered for her quick wit, her infectious laughter and her compassionate spirit.

Stella retired from a career with the State of Arizona with the Migrant Transfer Program assisting children to complete their education and to ensure their educational records followed them always.  Her career combined her love for children and her belief that a good education is essential to a fulfilling life.

Services will be held on Wednesday, April 28 at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, 2312 E Campbell Avenue, Phoenix, AZ 85016, (602) 954-9089,

10:30 am – Mass

The church is permitting ample space for family and friends to attend.  Please be mindful and respectful of COVID safeguards and masks are recommended.  Streaming services will be available through the website.
