Alice Valdez Avila

Alice V. Avila, age 88, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 5, 2024, at her home surrounded by her family. She was born August 27, 1935, in Phoenix, Arizona to Jose and Anita Valdez. She worked in Child Nutritional services with Herrera Elementary School for 20 years, displaying a wonderful act of love and affection, to her children, family, friends and especially towards her grandchildren. 

Alice truly lived life to the fullest through simple pleasures; chatting with friends and family, snacking, and spending time with her sisters every weekend. Also traveling to her favorite place Hawaii. Alice traveled with her sisters and nieces. Alice had an uncanny ability to reach people in a deep and positive way. Alice loved to get away in town and hit her favorite spot with her daughter Karen as they loved to hit the slots at the Casino. 

She is survived by her children, Lorraine A, Corina A, Karen G, Anthony A (Monica); Siblings a brother, Abel Valdez (Frances) and Sisters, Stella C, Mary Delia V, Molly V, Barbara P. Also 13 Grandchildren, 15 Great Grandchildren, 3 Great Great Grandchildren. Many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Family, friends, and others whose lives Alice has touched.

A visitation will take place at Whitney & Murphy Funeral Home, 4800 E. Indian School Road in Phoenix from 9:30 - 10:30 a.m. with funeral service to begin at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, July 15, 2024. Following service burial will be at St. Francis Catholic Cemetery in Phoenix.
