Vesper Amundson

Vesper Elaine Kensinger Amundson was born February 12, 1925 to Charles and Hattie Kensinger. She had three brothers, Russell, David and Jim and one sister, VeOra who all grew up in Cando, N.D.

Vesper graduated from Cando High School in 1943. She and William (Bill) John Amundson married June 15, 1945 after Bill returned from serving in the Navy during WWII.

Vesper and Bill went to North Central Bible College where they prepared for ministry.  She was a supportive, loving, caring, beautiful and piano-playing wife to her husband as they pastored in Fleece, ND, Mott, ND, Garrison, ND, Paramount, CA and Lynwood, CA.

Vesper and Bill next were in the nursing home field for 19 years. They administrated and owned Rest Haven Manor Nursing Home in Cando, ND.  At one point they owned 3 nursing homes with a home office in Devils Lake, ND.  She often said, “Bill took me around the world” visiting such places as Canada, Mexico, Costa Rica, Hawaii, China, Japan and Russia.

Upon retirement, they resided in the Anasazi Condos in Phoenix, AZ.

Vesper loved the Lord and had accepted Him as her Savior in childhood. She passed from this life on February 1, 2017 and entered her eternal reward.

Vesper is survived by her 3 children, William (Bill) Vernon Charles Amundson, Huntington Beach, CA; Sharon Elaine Iverson and spouse David, Phoenix, AZ and Gail Jean Gray and spouse Jim, Long Beach, CA.  Vesper has 5 grandchildren, Kimberly Iverson, Brian Iverson, Cameo Amundson, Christa Higgins, and Jeffrey Iverson and has 13 great-grandchildren.  Also surviving are her two sister-in-law’s, Beverly Bratlee, Carrington, ND and Lois Wildeman, San Marcos, CA.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William (Bill) John Amundson, great grandson, Cody, her parents, Charles and Hattie Kensinger, brothers, Russell Kensinger, wife Gladys, David Kensinger, wife Ruth, Jim Kensinger, wife Bonnie, and sister, VeOra Zelmer, husband Art. Also, brothers-in-law, Aaron Dale and Carl Wildeman; Hal Parker and Don Bratlee.

Her funeral was held at Whitney & Murphy Funeral Home on February 4, 2017.  Her Interment is at National Memorial Cemetery of AZ where her husband is buried.

Vesper will be missed deeply as she has gone to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ and her husband, Bill.
