Laura “Jane” Anderson

Laura ‘Jane’ Anderson passed surrounded by family on February 27, 2016 at Ryan House in Phoenix, AZ. Jane was born on March 2, 1935 in Phoenix to parents Veva Rawson Shupe and Reed Dalton Shupe, MD. She attended Emerson Elementary School, West Phoenix High School, Stephens College in Columbia, MO, the University of Arizona and graduated from Arizona State University with a BA and Master’s Degree in Education. She enriched the lives of hundreds of first grade children during her 40 years at Hopi Elementary School. Janie always had a hug and a smile for everyone. She loved to travel and spend time with her family and friends. She will be dearly missed. She is survived by her son, Andrew Reed Anderson, brother, James R. Shupe DVM, sister in law Judy Shupe, grandchildren, Austin Anderson and Ashley Anderson, nieces Dena Shupe of Oakland, CA and Christy Shupe of San Francisco, CA and nephew Jim Dalton Shupe of Santa Barbara, CA. A Memorial Service to celebrate Janie’s life will be held 11:30 AM, Saturday, April 30, 2016 at Whitney & Murphy Funeral Home, 4800 E. Indian School Road, Phoenix, AZ.
