Ann Lynne Sheridan, 80, died after a lengthy battle with Alzheimers on August 25, 2024. She was born June 25, 1944 at Camp Rucker in Alabama to Dr. Marcus Wells and Mary Olive Westervelt, but she was an Arizona girl from day one.
Ann attended grade school at Mt. Carmel Catholic School in Tempe and then went to Tempe High School where she graduated in the class of 1962. After graduating high school, she attended San Francisco College for Women for one year and then completed her education at Gonzaga University. It was during a year abroad in Vienna, Austria where she met Vincent Sheridan, the love of her life. They celebrated 56 years of marriage this past July.
Ann received her Master’s in English at Arizona State before starting her career as a teacher for the Scottsdale School District. In 1981 she became the fourth-grade teacher at St. Daniel’s Catholic School in Scottsdale where she eventually transitioned to teaching seventh grade. For 25 years she played an influential role in the lives of countless students.
Ann loved spending time with her family, playing bridge, being a part of PEO, volunteering for St. Vincent de Paul and attending and serving at her church. She loved Sunday night dinners with her family that usually started with happy hour and always ended in laughter.
Ann is survived by her husband Vincent, her son Vincent Sheridan and his wife Lynnette, her son Mark Sheridan and his wife Andria, and her daughter Maura Gordon and her husband Eric; her four grandchildren Milo and Finn Sheridan and Kieran and Sydney Gordon. She is also survived by her two sisters Jane (Westervelt) Herion and Sue (Westervelt) Enright. Her oldest brother Mark Westervelt passed in 2020.
