Anthony James Valencia, a devoted father, son, brother, and beloved boyfriend, passed away peacefully on February 20, 2025, with his loving family by his side. Born on December 31, 1968, in Phoenix, Arizona, Anthony was known for his joyful and loving nature—a quality that shone through in every aspect of his life.
A Life of Dedication and Achievement
Anthony’s proudest role was being AJ’s dad—a commitment to family that paralleled his dedication to education and professional service. He earned his Bachelor’s degree in Finance from the ASU W.P. Carey School of Business and completed his Master of Business Administration, laying a solid academic foundation for his professional journey. Anthony spent much of his career in the non-profit sector, working hard to make a positive impact, and as a passionate advocate for giving back, he served as a board member of the ASU Alumni Association, inspiring others with his leadership and compassion. Before his final career chapter with Benevilla—where he continued his commitment to enriching lives, first as Chief Financial Officer and later as Chief Operating Officer—Anthony held significant roles including Vice President of Finance and program finance manager at CPLC, and served as Chief Financial Officer for several for-profit ventures. An alumnus of Valley Leadership, he also contributed his expertise on the board of directors for the Roosevelt Education Foundation and as past president of the W.P. Carey School of Business Alumni Chapter.
Passions Beyond the Office
When he wasn’t at work, Anthony fully embraced life’s adventures. He could often be found enjoying a round of golf, testing his skills at the poker table, or traveling to explore new destinations. His enthusiasm for life and his ability to appreciate joy in every moment endeared him to everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.
