Armida H. Miller

August 4, 1939 — October 1, 2024

Goodyear

Armida H. Miller, 85, passed peacefully on October 1, 2024, at Hacienda Del Rey in Litchfield Park, Arizona. Armida was lovingly known by Mito or Nana Mito. She was born in Phoenix, Arizona on August 4, 1939, to Mary Y. Ramirez. She loved working as a teacher at the Urban League and later retired from Swift Transportation as a Human Resource Specialist.

Mito was a dedicated and caring mother and grandmother to her three daughters, nine grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren. She was known as Nana Mito to many families and friends due to the unconditional love she showed to so many people. She was always positive and encouraging. Her most beloved pastime was spending time with her family, listening to music, and dancing. Her favorite place to visit was Cholla Bay in Rocky Point, Mexico. She took countless vacations there with friends and family. It was a second home to her. She looked forward to her annual Laughlin trips with her cousins who were more like sisters. They spent the weekend laughing, eating, and enjoying each other’s company. We will most remember and cherish her contagious laughter, smile, and loving presence.

She is survived by her brother Alex Ramirez, daughters Erlinda Maratty, Chris Baunsgard, and Diane Garcia, nine grandchildren; Iliana Maratty, Larry Maratty, Jonathan Maratty, Arthur Garcia, Dedria Ramirez, Samuel Mendoza, Dominic Leija, Katrina Salas, Derrik Leija, and Crystal Leija, fourteen great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her grandson Arthur Garcia and mother Mary Y. Ramirez.

We invite everyone to wear something floral to her viewing and funeral. Nana loved flowers and wanted her services to be a celebration of her life. Instead of sending flower arrangements to the funeral home, she asked for donations to be sent to Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Parish at https://saintmarysbasilica.org/giving/

Visitation is set from 5:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. with rosary prayers at 6 p.m. on Thursday, October 10, 2024 at Whitney & Murphy Funeral Home, 4800 E. Indian School Road, Phoenix. On Friday, October 11, 2024 a Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary's Basilica, 231 N 3rd Street in Phoenix. Burial to follow at St. Francis Catholic Cemetery.
