William S. Ph.D. Arnott

92, of Phoenix, AZ, passed away January 23, 2014 in Scottsdale.  Born September 29, 1921 in Crested Butte, CO to James Hunter and Ella Bottenfield Arnott.  He attended High School in Crested Butte, CO, the University of Colorado, University of Northern Colorado, University of Denver and Professional Studies Institute, Phoenix.

He served in the Army Air Force from 1942-1946 and was awarded the American Service Medal, Asian-Pacific Medal, Meritorious Service Unit Plaque and Good Conduct Medal.

William taught High School in Ault, CO, Middle School in Greeley, CO, was a Rehabilitation Counselor for the Div. of Vocational Rehabilitation, a staff psychologist for Samuel Gompers Rehabilitation Center, Rehabilitation Dept. Manager for AZ State Industrial Commission, and Chief of Counseling and Rehabilitation for the Veterans Administration Regional Office, all located in Phoenix, AZ.  He was a Clinical Counseling Psychologist and affiliate staff member at Mesa Lutheran Hospital, an affiliate staff member of Scottsdale Memorial Hospital, served as an evening instructor for 13 years at Phoenix College, earned an AZ Lifetime Instructor Certificate, and was a Psycho-Diagnostic Consultant for the Department of Economic Security for 28 years. He belonged to numerous organizations and had memberships in the Arizona Psychological Association, American Psychological Association, and was an Affiliate Member of Mesa Lutheran and Scottsdale Memorial Hospitals and a Charter Member of Scottsdale Memorial North Hospital.

He is survived by his wife Salome Arnott, of Phoenix; daughter Pam Summit, of Mayer, AZ; son Eric Darst, of Aurora, CO; and daughter Leslie Bartley, of Greeley, CO.  Daughters, Cassye Booker of Phoenix, AZ; and Diane Coar, of Gilbert, AZ preceded him in death, as well as wife Helen and former wife, Averil Darst.

A Memorial Service will be held at 10:00 A.M., Saturday, March 1st, 2014, at Whitney & Murphy Funeral Home, 4800 East Indian School Road, Phoenix.
