Aurelia G. Sermeño, 89, from Phoenix, Arizona, passed peacefully in her home on May 30, 2024. She was born on February 22, 1935. As a devout Catholic, she taught the teaching of the Word of God to her children and grandchildren. Aurelia was known for her good wit and sense of humor which could make anyone laugh. She never liked to see anyone upset. She loved crocheting and cared deeply for her family and friends. She loved to sing out loud. She would say ‘I love to sing even if I’m off key’.
She is preceded in death by her sons Manuel Escoto, and Frank Sermeño; parents Frances Gutierrez Castro and Benjamin Castro. Aurelia is survived by her 8 children: Annmarie, Christina, George, Vivian, Peter, Ernest, Anthony, and Angelique; plus, many grandchildren and great grandchildren; whom she loved deeply.
Viewing will be held at Whitney & Murphy Funeral Home at 4800 E. Indian School Road in Phoenix, from 5-7 p.m., on Tuesday, June 11, 2024. Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, June 12th at 10:00 a.m., at Immaculate Heart Catholic Church, 909 E. Washington in Phoenix. Aurelia will be laid to her final resting place at St. Francis Cemetery immediately following the service.
