In loving memory of Alex Joel Avila. He was an Arizona native who attended West High School and Phoenix College and retired from the Maricopa County Department of Transportation after thirty-three years. He focused his life on his wife, family and love of movies. He loved the beaches of Hawaii and Southern California and trees and animals of the Mogollon Rim.
Alex was preceded in death by his father: Alex S. Avila, mother: Jacquelyn L. Phillips, stepfather: Thomas M. Phillips and his bothers: Jack Avila and Terry Phillips.
He is survived by his wife of fifty-two years: Cynthia J. Avila, his brothers: Robert Phillips (Sandy) and Garry Phillips, sister: Cheryl King, his sons: Joseph Avila and Aaron Avila and their spouses respectively: Laura Avila and Christina Avila, grandchildren: Alexia Kemper, Rebecca Herbertson (Bobby), Victoria Ledesma (Jorge), Camille Avila, Diego Avila and Gabriel Avila, and his great-grandchildren: Ronin, Ryo, Joey, RJ and Braydon.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made in Alex’s name to the Christopher Kohls Fire Department for their service in Alex’s time of need.
