Barbara "Barb" Alice Nedrow-Sitzler

September 15, 1930 — January 30, 2025

Colorado Springs

Barbara “Barb” Alice Nedrow-Sitzler, a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on January 30, 2025, at the age of 94 in Scottsdale, Arizona. Born on September 15, 1930, in Detroit, Michigan to Harold and Ida Bean, Barb led a long, beautiful life full of family and friends, bringing smiles to those who knew her.

Barb grew up in Detroit graduating from Cooley High School and Highland Park Junior College.

Barb married Charles “Skip” Nedrow in 1955, and they traveled to Panama, in the Canal Zone, where he was stationed in the service. They returned home in July of 56’. After working in the Masonry business for 20 years, Skip and Barb started Nedrow Refractories Company on August. 12, 1976. She raised their 2 children at home until 1976 when she started working full time at the company. After Skip passed in 1985, Barb immersed herself in business. Her contributions during this time helped shape the business that it is today. She met John “Jack” Sitzler, and they married in 1992. They enjoyed wintering in Arizona and spending the rest of the year between Pittsburgh and Detroit. Jack passed away in November 1996.

Barb lived life to the fullest in her Scottsdale, Arizona home that she had for the past 31 years. She had many great friends and neighbors during her time there, and she was an active member and officer in the P.E.O. Chapter BV of Scottsdale. During her retirement years, Barb would often spend her summers in Michigan, traveling both near and far with friends and family. In 2017, she moved in with her daughter Julie and Jim, to Colorado Springs, Colorado. Adventures would abound during this time with travels to Michigan to see friends and family, and trips to her home in Arizona. She also loved going on car rides with Julie taking in the sights, wherever they were at the time.

Barb is survived by her son Brian Nedrow (Kristy) of Wolverine Lake, MI, daughter Julie Nedrow (Jim Cooper) of Colorado Springs, CO, grandson Brad Nedrow (Gina) of Wolverine Lake, MI, granddaughter Chelsea Kidder (Robert) of San Antionio, TX, and great-granddaughter Raelyn Kidder. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Charles “Skip” Nedrow and her second husband, John “Jack” Sitzler.

Barb will be remembered for her sense of style, resolute strength, charming wit, sense of adventure and her devotion to family above all.

A family graveside service will be held in Michigan on a future date, where she will be laid to rest with family.
