Julia Marie Bauguss was born June 23, 1953 in Phoenix, AZ to loving parents, Oswald (Rod) and Lydia Rodriguez. Following a courageous battle with cancer, Julie entered Eternal Rest with Jesus on January 2, 2021, in the comfort of her home with her soul mate and husband of 36 years, Doug Bauguss at her side.
Julie lived most of her life in Phoenix attending Loma Linda Elementary School and Camelback High School. She worked for Mountain Bell and various business entities until she met and married Doug. Doug’s career required multiple relocations to Florida, Chicago, Long Island and Virginia. Julie loved the excitement of new cities and new friendships and hosting family members wherever she lived. Her life became even more joyful with the birth of her son, David in 1988. Julie found contentment and fulfillment with her life as a wife and mom. She felt being a wife and mother was God’s highest calling. She loved homeschooling David and raising him with a love for the Lord. Her heart embraced David’s friends at every age and their home reflected Julie’s love and kindness to all who entered. When
Doug decided to start his own business, they returned to a life in Phoenix where Julie was able to spend quality time with her parents before their passing. Julie now found time to rekindle her creative spark in art and cooking. An annual getaway with her sister, Karen, often included dining at a restaurant of a world renown chef.
With the birth of her grandson, Carson, in 2016, Julie’s life was indescribably blessed. Family trips to Disneyland, play days at the aquarium and the zoo, and special grandma days at her home meant the world to her. Carson soon consumed her home, her schedule and her every thought!
Julie was adored and deeply loved by her nieces and nephews, great nieces, and great nephews. She was their biggest cheerleader and gave to each one the completeness of her love and attention. Julie found her days filled with opportunities to use her gift of encouragement not just with family members but with friends as well. She loved one on one conversations and made each person, young or old, feel important and heard.
Julie’s life was wholly devoted to God and her family. Julie remains in our hearts as a beloved wife to Doug, a devoted mother to David (Tanya Clarke) and a precious grandma to Carson. She is a cherished sister to Cathy (Jim) Yockey, Karen Rodriguez, and Davey (Amber) Rodriguez and a treasured sister-in-law to Sue (Bud) Wood, Menzie Campbell, and Britt (Laurie) Bauguss. Julie’s shining light has also touched numerous extended family members and good friends.
Julie, you are deeply loved and will remain forever a part of our hearts!
“You have fought the good fight, you have won the race, you have kept the faith.” 2 Timothy 4:7
