Bettie Carolyn Stewart

December 13, 1930 — August 4, 2024

Phoenix

Bettie Carolyn Stewart, 93, of Phoenix, Arizona, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 4th, at her Clarendale Arcadia residence. Previously, and for over 15 years, Bettie was a long-time and cherished member of the Scottsdale House community.

Born on December 13, 1930, in Calhoun, Georgia, to Vonnie and Sterling Stewart, Bettie moved to Arizona in 1952, where she created a life rich in love, dedication, and kindness. She spent much of her career in Coolidge, Arizona, working for Southwest Gas Corporation, where she was known for her hard work and warm spirit. After retiring from Southwest Gas, Bettie enjoyed traveling, both with friends and family, and explored parts of Europe on several cruises. She treasured her Saturdays at Vincent's Camelback Market and adored all her interactions with clients and staff.

Bettie was preceded in death by her beloved sister, Shirley Wade, in 2020. She is survived by her daughter Leevon Owen Guerithault and her husband Vincent, of Phoenix; son Clifford Owen, of Safford; five grandchildren, Jessica Backus and her husband Matt, Caylee Owen, Daniel Guerithault and his wife Nicole, Nicolas Guerithault, and Christian Guerithault; three great-grandchildren and was eagerly awaiting the arrival of her fourth.

In celebration of Bettie’s loving and generous spirit, in lieu of flowers her family kindly requests that donations be made to Bliss Hospice, whose compassionate care provided comfort to Bettie in her final days.

Bliss Hospice, 2550 W. Union Hills Dr., 350-366, Phoenix, AZ 85027-5163.

Bettie’s memory will forever be a blessing to all who had the privilege of knowing her.
