Betty O’Melia of Phoenix, AZ passed away on December 6, 2024. She was born on June 26, 1948 in Vicksburg, MS to Marjorie and Harry Hawkins.

Betty loved life. She will live on in cherished memories, funny stories and in our hearts.

Betty saved her best efforts for what mattered most to her: her family, her friends and her God. She will forever be remembered as the fun and present Gretty to Olivia and Lauren. She was a strong and loving mother to Kiley and a loving wife to Mike.

Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Michael O’Melia (2006). She is survived by her daughter, Kiley Sifferman, son-in-law Daniel Sifferman, granddaughters Olivia Piper Sifferman and Lauren Michael Sifferman, her sister Lynn Gallego, brother-in-law Caesar Gallego, nieces Stacey Van Wie (Tom) and Katie Taylor (Spencer), nephew Marc Angstead (Toni) and Patrick O’Neill (Julie). Betty spent many years in the legal field and retired as an office manager. She was a dedicated volunteer and a special friend to many. Her family and friends will remember Betty for her strength, vibrancy, generosity, and faith. She was an independent woman who had a myriad of interests, including music, community work, arts and crafts, and travel (specially to see Broadway plays). Betty was a voracious reader and loved crossword puzzles. Betty had a big heart and touched many lives.
