Cornelius Biemond, 99, of Phoenix, AZ passed away peacefully on September 26, 2022.Cork was born in Loup City, NE. He attended middle and high school in Ord, NE and college at Hastings College, Hastings, NE. He served in WWII from 1943-1946 in the U.S. Army as an Air Force training pilot, teaching men to fly 2 and 4 engine bombers and P-38s.
Cork held a commercial pilot rating for 69 years accruing 11,474 flight hours. For 14 years during the spring and summer, he kept busy with agricultural flying of sprayers and dusters to protect our crops. From the University of NE, Cork earned a master’s degree in Education. He taught science and agriculture on both high school and college levels. He was a test pilot for a twin engine STOL amphibian and earned a Type Certificate on it. Before retiring, Cork worked for the Federal Aviation Administration as an engineer and inspector of aircraft from Piper Cubs to Boeing 747s and DC10s.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Marilyn, son Albert (wife Sharon), daughter, Heather (husband Alex Morris) and 5 grandchildren: Samantha, Casey, and Evan Morris, Maezy, and Griffyn Biemond. For memorial service information contact heathermorrisrealtor@gmail.com
