James (Jim) Robert Bloom, 82, passed away unexpectedly on May 31, 2017, surrounded by loved ones. Jim was born and raised in St. Paul, Minnesota, graduating from St. Thomas University in 1957. He was a successful executive working at Honeywell for thirty years and retiring from Tektronix as Executive Vice President, Sales in 1998. Jim was an avid sports fan, playing hockey and golf on his high school and college teams and also enjoyed hiking and reading. His move to Paradise Valley once he retired meant enjoying the game he loved, golf, on a year round basis. Jim was known for his sharp-wit, love of dogs, genuineness and consideration of others in all aspects of life. Jim was a loving husband, father and grandfather and will be deeply missed by his family. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Mary Jane, and five children: Lori (Tim) Walker, Bob Bloom, John (Sue) Bloom, Lisa Austin and Patti (Todd) Bracey. He is also survived by eleven grandchildren and two great grandchildren. A Memorial Service will be held at the Franciscan Renewal Center, 5802 E. Lincoln Drive, Scottsdale, AZ on Wednesday, June 21, 2017 at 10 AM with a reception following at son John’s. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to Mission of Mercy, 360 E.
