Rose Booth

April 20, 1922 ~ April 8, 2023

We are sad to announce the death of Rose Frances Booth, who died on April 8, 2023 just 12 days shy of her 101st birthday. She died peacefully in her sleep at her home of 70 years in Phoenix, Arizona.

Rose was born in Indianapolis, Indiana on April 20, 1922 to Antonio and Antoinetta Vespo and it was there that she met and married her husband John Booth. They were wed on February 14, 1942 and they began their life together in Indianapolis. In 1953 they packed up their 3 kids and moved to Phoenix, Arizona, where their 4th child was born in 1956. Rose would remain in Phoenix for the rest of her amazing life and she and John enjoyed 64 years of marriage until his death in 2006. Rose was the consummate homemaker as she happily took on the majority of the task of raising her children as John’s work as an Ironworker took him out of town quite a lot. As her children started having their own families, Rose was there to help with her grandchildren. Besides being an excellent cook, Rose took great pride in her yard and it was not unusual to see her outside trimming and pruning even at the age of 100. A devout Catholic, Rose attended church every Sunday without fail.

Rose was preceded in death by her daughter Marsha Jacobi, and is survived by her other 3 children, Karen McCormick, John Booth and Dennis Booth and by her 3 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandson.

There will be a visitation held on Sunday, April 23, 2023 from 2 – 5 PM at Whitney & Murphy Funeral Home, 4800 E. Indian School Road, Phoenix. Mass will be celebrated at Saints Simon and Jude Cathedral, 6351 N. 27th Avenue, Phoenix, on Tuesday, April 25th at 10:00 AM, followed by the burial at West Resthaven Park Cemetery, 6450 W.
