Betty A. Borquez, 80 of Phoenix, cherished mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend to all, suddenly passed and made her transition to our Heavenly Father on April 9, 2016. Betty was born on July 31, 1935 in Hayden, Arizona. Betty was preceded in death by her beloved father, Arturo Borquez, mother Alicia Saenz, step-father Marcos Saenz, and brother Rolando (Rollie) Saenz. Betty is survived by her only son, David, grandson, David Jr., and granddaughters Mariah and Briana, to whom she devoted her life. Betty is also survived by her two sisters Mary Dee Stump (the late Robert Bracamonte and the late William Stump) of Kearny, and Olivia (Joe) Lopez of Phoenix. She is also survived by a niece, five nephews, and many great and great-great nieces and nephews who loved their auntie very much. Betty grew up in the small mining town of Hayden, Arizona. She moved to Phoenix as a young adult and dedicated her life to her work and family. After many years of service, Betty retired from Motorola. She thoroughly enjoyed being a caretaker first to her mother Alicia, then to her step-father Marcos. Betty also enjoyed the company of her younger brother Rollie. She was an excellent cook, and so much so, that Rollie made his way to her home for dinner more times than not. Her greatest joy in life was spending time with her son and grandchildren. They were the loves of her life. Services to celebrate Betty’s life will be held on Tuesday, April 19, 2016 at St. Mary’s Basilica, 231 N. 3
