Carlos Ayala, aged 62, passed away on December 12, 2023, on the Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe, after a nearly two-year battle with brain cancer. Born on March 2, 1961, in Tilzapotla, Mexico, Carlos was the eighth of ten children of Ignacia and Porfirio Ayala. He spent his early years in Nuestros Pequeños Hermanos, a home for orphaned and abandoned children in Morelos, Mexico.
Carlos graduated from Bellas Artes, the National Institute of Fine Arts in Mexico City, and went on to pursue a career as a fine artist specializing in sculpture and painting. With the support of generous patrons, he created significant sculptures for churches and homes across the United States. His artistic focus was on the beauty of creation, Jesus, Mary, and the saints.
In addition to his artistic pursuits, Carlos was a devoted husband and father. He served his family and friends selflessly, offering wise counsel and genuine concern for others. He was full of life and gave of himself until the very end.
Carlos is survived by his wife of 33 years, Wendy, six sons, two daughters-in-law, and two grandsons. He will be remembered for his love of God and family, his friendship, artistic talent, warmth, honesty, consistency, culinary expertise, and negotiation skills.
