Phoenix - Carlos "Curly" J. Sanchez, age 92 passed away peacefully on November 13, 2023 with his family at his side. He was born on July 12, 1931 in Superior, AZ but was raised in Phoenix, AZ.
Carlos was preceded in death by his parents, Gumercindo and Marianne, his ex wife, Emma
and his son Marcus. He was a devoted and loving father and grandfather to his family who
loved him very much. He is survived by his children, Dorothy, Cathy, Barbara, Patricia, Adam,
16 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.
Carlos was a Surveyor Engineer with the City of Phoenix for over 30 years. He was a veteran
with the armed services for over 40 years. His last rank was as a Master Sergeant with the Air
National Guard.
Carlos's greatest joy was his family. He taught them to love unconditionally, to forgive and to
always be there for each other. He was a fun and silly Dad who gave his family the quirky sense
of humor they have today. He was a source of strength that gave his family a sense of security.
They always knew they could rely on him for anything.
Carlos taught them the love of camping and fishing. Also, the love of spending time together
as a family. He will be truly missed but the family is at peace knowing he is in paradise with our
God.
