Mary Ann Carrithers

passed away of natural causes on Wednesday the 10th of February 2016 in Mesa, Arizona at the age of 96. Mary Ann was born to George and Mary Gresock Uhron of Chambersville, Pennsylvania on September 17, 1919. She graduated from Indiana High School with the class of 1938. Mary Ann was a member of St. Theresa Catholic Church of Phoenix, AZ. She is survived by two daughters: Carolyn Butler (William) Tempe, AZ and Susan Davis (Henry) Smyrna, GA. She is also survived by two brothers: Thomas Uhron of Indiana, PA, Robert Uhron (Ginny) Lancaster, PA and sisters-in-law: Clara Uhron of Indiana, PA, Agnes Carrithers of Burkesville, KY, Evelyn McGinty of Cleveland, OH and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and by her husband Leonard Carrithers and six brothers: Mike, John, George, Joseph, Peter, Julius and three sisters: Margaret Gluszek, Irene Robson and Helen Minaya. Mary Ann was loving, giving and easy to join others in a laugh and will be remembered by her family as the gentle beauty that she was. The family is deeply grateful to Windsong Care Assisted Living in Mesa, AZ and to Family Comfort Hospice in Scottsdale, AZ for the excellent care and attention given to Mary Ann in her later years. Memorial Service will be held at 10:30 AM Tuesday, February 23, 2016 at Whitney & Murphy Funeral Home, 4800 E. Indian School Road, Phoenix, AZ. Private services will be planned for a later date in Pennsylvania. “Be strong, and let your heart take courage, all you who wait for the Lord” Psalm 31:24.
