Joan Stewart Carroll, 90, of Scottsdale, AZ formerly of Grand Beach, MI passed away on June 21, 2018 in Scottsdale, AZ. Sommerfeld Chapel – 15 N. Barton St., New Buffalo, MI has been entrusted with arrangements. Joan was born in Hammond, IN on November 9, 1927 to the late Malcolm and Edna (Bohling) Stewart. She loved all her family and friends, her evening glass of wine followed by Wheel of Fortune, playing solitaire on her iPad (admitting to cheating on occasions – hey she played to win), and watching golf every weekend. Going to the beach in Michigan and living the life in Arizona. All of this while trying to figure out how to use her cell phone. When asked, her philosophy on life, “Love each other”. She is survived by her children- Edward “Ted” Carroll of Calumet Township, IN, Nancy (Roger) Eghbali of Lowell, IN and Susan (Randy) Folts of Cave Creek, AZ; her grandchildren- Marjon, Bob, Lauren, Justin, Connor and Cody; great grandchildren- Myah, Nova and Maddie; and sister- Sally (Dick) Pavel of Hobart, IN. Joan is preceded in death by her husband Edward Carroll, Sr. on January 19, 2002; and her brother- Malcolm “Bill” Stewart.
A committal service celebrating Joan’s life will be held on Saturday, June 30, 2018 at 10:30 A.M. (EST) at Pine Grove Cemetery in New Buffalo, MI with Father Mike Hoffman officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to the Michiana Humane Society.
