Jr. Camilo Espinoza Castro

Camilo Espinoza Castro Jr. passed away on January 16, 2021, at the age of 60, in Sun City, Arizona with his sister Debra and wife Irma at his side.

Camilo was born and raised in Phoenix, Arizona, and was the middle child of 3. He is preceded in death by his parents, Camilo & Gonzala Castro, his brother, Rick Castro Sr., and his late wife, Gloria Castro. He is survived by his wife Irma, daughters Kyrene & Erica, stepdaughter Vanessa, stepsons Marco & Andy, sister Debra and granddaughter Leilani. He is also survived by 5 step-grandchildren, 6 nieces and nephews, 3 goddaughters, and many brothers and sisters-in-law.

Camilo had a strong passion for baseball and would often talk about his years of playing and his great pitching stats. As an uncle, he mentored his nephews with pitching as well. He enjoyed spending time with family, football, comedy shows, fishing, and going to the casino. Camilo retired from the State of Arizona Industrial Commission where he worked as a workman’s comp claims supervisor for 25+ years. He lost his late wife in May 1997 and worked hard to raise his two daughters. Most days he could be found at the softball fields where he spent his free time coaching his daughters and teaching them how to pitch. He loved to laugh and had a great sense of humor. Camilo and Irma met in early 2004 and immediately connected through great conversation. While he loved all his girls, he gained all the boys he always wanted. He was a great listener to family & friends and provided honest advice to those seeking it. In recent days, you could find Camilo watching Family Feud or The Steve Wilkos Show comfortably in his recliner.

Due to Covid and limited capacity, Camilo will be honored in a private memorial on Wednesday, January 27, 2021 at 10:00 A.M. at Whitney & Murphy Funeral Home, 4800 E Indian School Road, Phoenix. Masks and Social distancing will be required. A graveside blessing will take place immediately after at St Francis Cemetery, 2033 N 48th St, Phoenix.
