Rosemarie “Rosie” Chavez

Rosemarie “Rosie” Chavez went home to be with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Wednesday, December 5, 2012. Rosie was born June 19, 1956 in Phoenix, Arizona. Rosie grew up in “Barrio Goldengate”, attended Sacred Heart School, Wilson School and Phoenix Union High School. Rosie received her AA at Phoenix Community College and her BA at Arizona State University. She worked for the City of Phoenix for 29 years, most of which was for the Phoenix Public Library System. Rosie has touched many lives in this world with her beautiful spirit. Rosie will be remembered for her unending love, joy and amazing sense of humor. She brought humor and a smile to everyone she met regardless of the situation. Rosie accomplished many things in her life but her proudest accomplishment was raising three amazing sons. Rosie leaves behind her husband Dr. Jacob Chavez, sons Solomon Von Weimer, Gabriel Von Weimer and Jacob Von Weimer, daughters in law Jacqui, Jennafer and Jessica, grandchildren Ryan Von Weimer, Ava Von Weimer, Aiden Von Weimer, Brody Von Weimer, Deacon Von Weimer, Remi Von Weimer and another on the way. Also surviving are her father Esequiel Chavez, sisters Debbie Watson, Annette Ortiz, Janet Reish, Virginia “Gina” Herb, Frances Melendez, Cathy Chavez, Two brothers, Robert Chavez and Tommy Chavez, her best friend Lydia Gonzales and many nephews and nieces. Her mother Virginia Chavez went home to be with the Lord October 1st, 1987. They are now together in the arms of Jesus. Rosie will be missed more than words can express. John 3:16. Visitation will be from 5-9pm, with a Memorial Service at 7pm, Sunday, December 9 at Whitney & Murphy Funeral Home, 4800 E. Indian School Road, Phoenix. Funeral Mass will be at 11am, Monday, December 10, St. Theresa Catholic Church, 5045 E. Thomas Road, Phoenix. Interment will follow at St. Francis Catholic Cemetery.
