Marilyn Antoinette Chester

Marilyn Antoinette Chester peacefully passed to go home to the Lord on Saturday, March 2nd, 2019 at John C. Lincoln hospital. She was surrounded by three of her nieces, Katherine (Kathy) Kegel, Dorothy Hrenchir, and Lynda Hilton.

Born in Prescott, AZ on March 25, 1939, Marilyn lived 79 beautiful years. She found love and married William (Bill) Chester on August 29, 1980. They were blessed with two children, (Robert) Eddie Chester and Maria Elizabeth Chester, finally making their family complete. Family and faith were the foundation of Marilyn’s life. She was a devoted mother, wife, sister, daughter, aunt, and friend, becoming a mentor to many. She had a passion for helping others and saw the beauty in every living soul. She had a special place in her heart for the four-legged, furry variety, and because she couldn’t house them all, made a point to deliver food regularly to shelters in Rocky Point. While she loved her career of 27 years at Valley National Bank, she truly loved to spend time in Puerto Peñasco. She became a part of the culture and people and the beach became her place of solace and restoration. With every visit, came families to spend time with her that she adopted as her own. She and Bill dedicated themselves to help support these families with food, education, and work. Marilyn wanted to save everyone and made it her mission to be a rock for anyone in need.

Marilyn leaves behind her husband of 38 years, Bill, her two children, Eddie and Maria, her grandchild Nohea William, a second grandchild due in August, Jasmine Marilyn, three nieces, a nephew, and ten great nieces and nephews and their numerous children. Her generosity and the honest love she provided has left them with memories to treasure, share, and emulate.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Leslie Henry Childers and Antoinette (Taylor) Childers, and her sister, Theresa Marie (Childers) Rote. Jesus said, “Let not your hearts be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in me. In my Father’s house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am you may be also” (John 14: 1-3). Together again, they are at peace and wait to be reunited with us. As her loved ones left behind wait for that reunion with aching hearts, know that her arms are around us all as she now sleeps with the angels.

Visitation will be held Friday, March 8, 2019 5:00 P.M. – 8:00 P.M. at Whitney & Murphy Funeral Home, 4800 E. Indian School Rd., Phoenix, with a Memorial Service at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, March 9, 2019 at St. John of the Desert, 3718 E. Greenway Rd., Phoenix, and followed by a reception. In lieu of flowers, should you wish to make a donation, Marilyn would be pleased to have you donate to: Rocky Point Animal Adoption Center or Home Fur Good
