Mark D’Arcangelo, 67, went to be with the Lord on Monday, January 23, 2023. Mark’s sudden calling was a shock to all who loved him which was many. Mark was born to Marian and Jim D’Arcangelo on August 2, 1955. Growing up in Phoenix he attended St. Thomas Elementary and was a Brophy Prep graduate.
Mark pursued his creative side by becoming a career barber. This was a perfect choice as it allowed him to exercise his wonderful ability as a conversationalist. He knew every Beatles song and was not shy in sharing their history as well as a timely song. At family gathering you could always count on mark singing harmony. That passion carried over to his beloved ASU Sun Devil football team where he never missed family tailgating.
Mark was unique in many ways. His humor could be dry, but very clever. One of his greatest joys was to tease anyone who would fall for his shenanigans. His love of his family was always being exhibited. A family party without him always was noticed and was better with him than not. If you were a friend of Mark’s you were a friend for life. He was a most loyal friend.
Mark was the third child of the large D’Arcangelo family. He left behind sisters Chris Fierro (Sam), Margie D’Arcangelo, Carol Watson (John), Mary Cooney (Tom). Mark is joining his deceased brother, Nick in heaven. Many others including nieces, nephews and cousins will miss him.
To know Mark was to love him. He was a kind and gentle spirit. The periodical, “Reader’s Digest” has a section entitled, “The Most Unforgettable Character I’ve Met.” Mark was certainly that. God be with him.
There will be a memorial to celebrate Mark’s life on Friday, March 3, 2023 from 4PM-7PM at Whitney & Murphy Funeral Home, 4800 E. Indian School Road, Phoenix. On Saturday, March 4, 2023 at 1PM a Mass will be celebrated at Brophy Chapel, 4701 N. Central Avenue, Phoenix.
