Sandra Ayala Delgado

Sandra Ayala Delgado passed into the hands of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on December 7th, 2020 due to complications of Covid-19. The daughter of Henry T. Ayala and Stella Ayala, Sandy was born on June 1, 1956 in Phoenix, Arizona. She cherished her brother Richard who left this world at a young age. His death greatly affected her and she remained loyal to his memory. She devoted 33 years of her professional life to the Maricopa County Court System.

Family was at the heart of Sandy’s life. She stayed in contact with many of her lifelong friends she met at PT Coe and St. Mary’s HS. She looked forward to the family parties, the late night dancing and all the love her family created. Her cousins made her laugh as they told their one of a kind stories. She would smile when speaking of them or bragging of their accomplishments. She got a kick out of her Tias and Tios, but always respected the advice and significant influence they had in her life. She created great memories with her brothers and sisters in law, from camping trips, being young parents together, celebrating kids events, movie nights and the annual Christmas party to name a few. She loved her nephews and nieces as her own children and was so proud of the men and women they grew to be. Her dearest friend was her sister Lily, who she cherished and relied on throughout her life for her loyalty, a friendly ear, friendship and love.

Sandy was married to the love of her life and best friend, Fred, for 46 years. They met when she was 14, started dating when they were 16 and married at 18. Their marriage withstood the ups, downs and trials of life. They were best friends, creating lasting memories and later in life, rediscovering their love and passion for one another. Their cariños, jokes and own language made people laugh and were the basis of many great stories. Their marriage served as a great example of true love, consistency, loyalty and longevity.

Together they had three children, Freddy, Richard (Kaitie) and Jennifer (Matt). She was extremely proud of their personal and professional accomplishments. She was their rock, always ready to help with advice, counsel, a warming hug or a friendly ear. Strong in her faith, Sandy prayed for her children and family everyday and although could not always be with them physically, she was with them in spirit.

Being a Yaya to her six grandchildren (Jayden, Emma, Gavin, Sophia, Stella Rose and Wyatt) was one of the great joys of her life. She tried to make every school event, Church activity and athletic contest. She was a devoted Yaya proudly displaying artwork and photos, ever ready to make cookies or cupcakes and would never say no to a sleepover. Although she didn’t see her Indiana family as much as she wanted, she anxiously awaited and treasured the videos, pictures and phone calls.

Sandy was a passionate sports fan, whether it was attending Game 7 of the Diamondbacks World Series win, watching her children play club and college soccer or rooting for her grandkids at their youth basketball, soccer and wrestling events, she was their number one fan. Sports gave her the opportunity to voice her fiery, competitive spirit. She acted as a “Team Mom” to many children and friends during sleepovers, travel games and team dinners.

Sandy: wife, mother, Yaya, sister, niece, Tia, Nina and cousin is loved and will be missed by many. Services are currently postponed and will be announced in the near future.
