Devon Overlock Howe

April 5, 1961 — January 20, 2025

Scottsdale

Devon Overlock Howe “D4”, age 63, passed away unexpectedly on January 20th, 2025 in Scottsdale, Arizona. He was born in St. Louis, Missouri on April 5th, 1961 to Richard and Doris Howe. Devon is survived by his wife, Katherine (Warlow) Howe, his children John, Brett, and Helaina, and his three sisters, Deirdre (Howe) Robertson “D1”, Darcy Howe “D2”, and Daryn Howe “D3”.

Devon was a man of few words, whose actions often spoke louder than words. Devon was also an extremely driven individual who raised the spirit and motivation of the people around him, whether it was the many sailing clubs where he raced, the volunteer work, or, of course, his many businesses with all of his colleagues along the way.

Growing up with three older sisters, his agreeable and ham-it-up nature found him featured in many plays, musicals, skits, and Ed Sullivan-style variety shows. Dog, baby, female model, athlete, tiger, or one of the Three Stooges, he could impersonate them all!

Devon played Division 1 Basketball for the West Virginia University Mountaineers, earned an MBA from Washington University in St. Louis, and went on to start or run eight different businesses and create ten approved patents in the dental industry. Some of his business adventures ranged from operating a T-shirt business in a college housing bathroom to running his own 50-person dental supply business in Albany, NY. Devon was famous for viewing everyone as an equal and was never afraid to step up and help those working with him, no matter the task.

He picked up a love of racing Scow sailboats from his father in Michigan, a passion he carried throughout his life, starting as crew on his dad’s E-scow as a child to a top ten finish at Master Nationals in the MC scow just a few years ago. No matter where work took him, even to a desert, he always found a way to race his beloved MC Scow and teach others his passion.

Devon always went above and beyond to help, support, and love his children and wife, no matter what turns life took or the distances between us. His dedication to his family and drive to do the right thing will forever live on through us.
