L. James Eggleston, 91 years, passed away on July 12, 2017, after a brave battle with cancer. He is survived by his wife of sixty-eight years, Mary Ann, and daughters Karen and Kathy.
Jim was a prominent businessman in downtown Glendale, Arizona, as both an investor and proprietor of a retail clothing store. For many years, Jim and his brother owned Eggleston’s Department store. Later, with his daughter Kathy, he owned Kathy’s Corner Boutique and Cowpoke Western wear. Jim was instrumental in downtown Glendale re-development efforts over several decades. He was an innovative businessman who started the Glendale Development Corp., the Saturday Market, and Tribute to Marty Robbins events. He initiated various real estate improvements. He was devoted to his family. He will be dearly missed for his wry sense of humor and his encouraging attitude. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, July 22, 2017 at First United Methodist Church, 7102 N. 58th Drive, Glendale, Arizona. Arrangements entrusted to Whitney & Murphy Funeral Home.
