Eileen C. Hansen passed peacefully on February 7, 2025 in Scottsdale, Arizona with family at her side. A loving wife, daughter, sister, mother, grandmother and friend, she was guided by her devout Catholic faith as she prepared to enter eternal life.
Born in 1938, Eileen was raised in Rochester NY and graduated from Our Lady of Mercy School for Girls where she nurtured her deep faith and lifelong friendships. She worked at Stromberg-Carlson until being swept off her feet by Bob Hansen, and they married in 1961. Their life adventure led them to Angola NY to raise their family before retiring to Arizona in 2012.
Eileen was a devoted member of Most Precious Blood Parish Rosary Altar Society, School Guild and church choir, taught cooking and childcare for Busy Bees 4-H Club and was an elections day poll worker. An office substitute for Lake Shore Central Schools, she was at the top of the call list and often had long-term assignments. She admired the teachers and became friends with staff. In the empty-nest years, she and Bob shared their faith as pre-cana and youth leaders at MPB and St Theresa’s Parish in Scottsdale.
Eileen loved music and gifted her family memories of her harmonizing with her twin to sing Whispering Hope and In the Garden. She was curious and always learning, demonstrated by pauses to read every placard at museums or at monuments on a walk, and by her keen interest in current events, cultures, faiths and anything new. She was a precise typist and never lost her ability to read and write shorthand. She was social, spending hours on the phone with friends and family or meeting for lunch. She was Mom. Supporting, listening to, loving and always praying for the best for her children. So many memories, all is good.
Eileen is preceded in death by her loving husband of 58 years, Robert P. Hansen, and her parents Marion Deckman Murphy and Edward P. Murphy. She is forever remembered and loved by her treasured identical twin sister Kathleen “Hon” (Donald, predeceased) Rimlinger and dearest brother Patrick (Barbara) Murphy, “those kids” who were beyond blessed to know her has Mom: Julie Suto, Linnea Hansen, Lori (Bill) Sliwa, Beth (Nathan) Wymer and Erik (Amy) Hansen; six grandchildren, four great grandchildren, and extended family of nephews, nieces and cousins who were always in her heart.
A Catholic burial service for family will be at Holy Cross Cemetery in Angola NY at a future date, arranged by Latimore-Schiavone Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to Mercy Fund - Our Lady of Mercy [www.mercyhs.com/give] or Mercy Bridges, a literacy ministry of the Sisters of Mercy [1437 Blossom Road, Rochester NY 14610].
