The Very Reverend Father Elias K. Ziton (Blessed Memory), age 84, entered peacefully into repose on May 17, 2024. Loving husband of the late Kh. Lorraine Ziton (Haddad). Fr. Elias was born on April 19, 1940, to the late Elias and Julia Ziton in Toledo, Ohio. His loving brothers, Wasfey Ziton and the V. Rev. Fr. Theordore E. Ziton (Blessed Memory), predeceased him. Fr. Elias was ordained to the priesthood in 1965. His ordination was one of the last by His Eminence Metropolitan Antony Bashir (Thrice Blessed Memory) at the 1965 Antiochian Orthodox Archdiocese Convention in Boston, Massachusetts. Fr. Elias faithfully served St. George Antiochian Orthodox Church in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, St. George Antiochian Orthodox Church in Phoenix, Arizona, St. Ignatius Antiochian Orthodox Church, in Mesa, Arizona, retiring as Pastor Emeritus at St. George Antiochian Orthodox Church in Phoenix, Arizona.
Beloved father of Michael (Feirouz), Deborah (Gray), and David (Nesrin). Dear grandfather of Michael Elias Jr., Juliana Rose, Nina, Eli, Marina, and Paris Sophia. Dearest brother of the late Wasfey (Gloria) of California, the late V. Rev. Fr. Theordore E. Ziton (Vivian) of Ohio, Uncle, Cousin, God-Father, and spiritual father of many.
On Tuesday, May 28, 2024 from 4:30-6:30pm will be a visitation at St. George Antiochian Orthodox Church in Phoenix, 4530 E. Gold Dust Avenue, Phoenix, Arizona 85028. At 6:30pm the Funeral Service for the Priest will commence with a 7:30pm light reception following in The Legacy Ballroom.
On Wednesday, May 29 at 9:00am will be Divine Liturgy at St. George Antiochian Orthodox Church in Phoenix, Arizona with a 10:00am Funeral Service for the Layman. Burial will take place at Paradise Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Meal of Mercy in The Legacy Ballroom to follow.
