Ermelinda (Ungie) Carranza (age 66) of Mesa, AZ passed away peacefully in her home on February 11, 2025; after a courageous fight with cancer. Erma was loved by everyone. Her huge heart, fun loving spirit and humbleness is what made Erma so special to many. She will be missed and her void will definitely be felt. Erma was born in Douglas, AZ on April 13, 1958 to Maria and Pedro Carranza who welcomed her into Heaven. She is survived by her daughter Karla Carranza, son-in-law Richard (Jimmy) Buckley, grandchildren Jazmine, Makayla, and Angelina Carranza, niece Alia Ahmed. Sisters, Frances Sandoval, Evangelina Carranza, Teresa Carranza, Norma Montney, Estella Famora and brother Pedro Carranza and many nieces and nephews who she loved very much.
Ermelinda graduated from Douglas High School then received a degree from Cochise College in Douglas, AZ. She had a successful career at Gililland middle school (Tempe, AZ) as a computer tech where she earned the Golden Apple Award of Success and of which she was rightfully proud of.
Erma left her family heartbroken over her passing but they are comforted knowing that she is pain free in the arms of our savior Jesus Christ and we will be reunited with her again. The family will be holding a Celebration of Life at the Whitney & Murphy Funeral home on Friday, February 21, 2025 at 11 a.m., followed by a burial at St. Francis Catholic Cemetery along side her mother and father. In lieu of flowers the family is asking for donations in her name to the St. Jude’s Children’s research hospital to help children that are fighting cancer. A cause that she was passionate about.
