Wanda Alexandria Etter

Wanda A. Etter – Loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother passed away peacefully on April 4, 2012 at age 92. Wanda was born on Christmas Day in 1919 in Pittsburgh, PA to Polish immigrants. She met the love of her life, Arthur D. Etter, in Erie, PA and they married in 1942. They lived on the Etter family farm, where their three sons were born. They lived and worked there until life’s adventures took them to Phoenix, AZ. They purchased a home near St. Agnes Church and School, raised and educated their sons, and lived happily. After Art passed away in 1975, Wanda found herself in the work force, working at Dillard’s department store until her retirement. Wanda was known for her wonderful Polish hospitality and warm holiday celebrations for family and friends. After some 30 years of independent living in Phoenix she moved to a patio home in Tempe to be close to her son Ron. Wanda is survived by her three sons, Delbert, Ron, Jim and daughters-in-law, eight grandchildren and their spouses, 14 great grandchildren, her sister-in-law Ruth Mallory, and her nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her great grandchild, Gabriella Etter. A Rosary and Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00pm at Whitney & Murphy Funeral Home, 4800 E. Indian School Rd. Phoenix, on Tuesday, April 10, 2012. A Mass in Celebration of her life will be offered at Holy Spirit Church, 1800 East Libra Drive, Tempe, on Wednesday, April 11, at 10:00 am. Donations in memory of Wanda can be made to Hospice of the Valley, 1510 E. Flower St., Phoenix, Arizona 85014.
