Helen M. Felcyn has lived a full and productive 96 years and is now at rest. Born in Hendricks, MN on December 2, 1917 to Benjamin and Clara Nuese, she left us on June 26, 2014 due to age-related complications. Her life was shaped by her Midwestern background, the Great Depression, and WWII. Helen was a graduate of Ivanhoe High School and Beauty School in St. Paul, MN. A businesswoman, she operated a Beauty Shop in Ivanhoe, MN. Her life was defined by her great love for her husband, Roman D. Felcyn, a WWII Army Officer, whom she married in 1940. They spent over 50 wonderful years together until his death in 1992. Her faith, and being a member of St. Francis Xavier Parish for 63 years and her family, daughters Maureen Felcyn and Mary Herrle and son-in-law Tim Herrle were integral parts of her life. Helen was a Phoenix resident since 1951, moving with her family from Minnesota to a new home in Arizona. She will be remembered for her beautiful smile, engaging personality, a ready helping hand, her love of animals especially dogs, and the best lemon pie baked in Arizona. The world is a lesser place without her presence. The family wishes to thank Hospice of the Valley for the staff’s attentive care in her last days of illness. Her Funeral Mass will be at 10am, Monday, June 30, 2014 at St. Francis Xavier Church, 4715 N. Central Avenue. A Rosary will precede the Mass at 9:30am. In memory of Helen, contributions can be made to St. Vincent de Paul, St. Mary’s Food Bank, or a charity of your choice.
