Fidela E. Nevarez went home to be with the Lord on July 9th, 2008. She was born Fidela Escalante on May 4, 1912 in Phoenix, Arizona, and was married to Emiliano Nevarez for 56 years. Together they lovingly raised their three children: Eleanor, Mike and Joe. Fidela “Nana” touched the hearts of many during her 96 years. Throughout her life she practiced the highest principles of Christianity and service to others becoming an inspiration to all who knew her. Her helping hands, comforting arms and generous heart were always there for both family and friends. To all of us, she will always be remembered as a gift from the Lord who taught us the true meaning of unconditional love…Nana, we are blessed for having you in our lives and we are grateful you are now in our Heavenly Father’s care. We will forever love you! Fidela is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Eleanor and Ernest Flores, son, and daughter-in-law, Joe and Velia Nevarez, daughter-in-law Phyllis Nevares, brother Edward Escalante, 11 grandchildren, Henry, Charles, Diana, Anna, Robert, Patricia, Amanda, Cathy, Caroline, Joe, Judie; 21 great grandchildren, 3 great great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband Emiliano, son Mike and two grandsons both named Michael. Visitation 10:00-11:00 A.M. Thursday, July 17, followed by a Service at 11:00 A.M. at Whitney & Murphy Funeral Home 4800 East Indian School Road. Interment will be at St. Francis Cemetery.
