Gale Patricia Clements

Gale Patricia (Nieuwenhoff) Clements passed away peacefully on August 21, 2024 after a decade long battle with Alzheimer's disease. She was surrounded by friends and family.

Gale was born on September 22, 1938 to John and Maria Nieuwenhoff in Millbury, Massachusetts during the Great New England Hurricane of 1938, hence the spelling of her name. Gale was preceded in death by her best friend and sister, Barbara Billings, in 2023. 

Gale leaves her devoted children: Jacque (Clements) Lettner and her her husband, Hans Lettner, her sons, David Clements and Doug Clements and her devoted grandchildren, Alexandra Lettner, Hans Jacob Lettner, Jarod Clements, Luke Clements, Logan Clements and her brother, Alan Nieuwenhoff as well as many loving nieces and nephews.

Gale attended grade school and High School in Millbury where she was active in the Millbury Girl's Drum and Bugle Corps. Gale moved to Arizona in 1956. 

Gale began working in banking when she moved to Arizona which is when she met her lifelong friends Susan and Dixie.

Gale later enjoyed a career as a Realtor for many decades in the Phoenix area. She enjoyed her career, especially working with first time home buyers. Gale was always nearly as excited about her client's first homes as they were. Gale also worked at Weldon House with women who were new in recovery for many years prior to her retirement. She enjoyed her work at Weldon house enormously.

Gale's greatest gifts to humanity were her kindness, compassion and commitment to the service of others. Gale was a sober member of Alcoholics Anonymous for 47 years and touched the lives of hundreds of women. She was a constant source of love, compassion, wisdom and support. 

Gale was an incredible grandmother to her five grandchildren. She brought joy, laughter and love to their lives. She introduced them to the joys of gardening and was an impassioned cheerleader at their sporting events. She never missed an important event in their lives and made each of them feel special and loved. 

A Celebration of Life Memorial Service/Open House is being held on Sunday, September 8, 2024 at 11:30 a.m. for close friends and family at 2602 W. Via Perugia, Phoenix, Arizona 85086.
