Martin Gaviña

On Thursday, October 29, 2020, Martin Gaviña, husband and father of four children, passed away at the age of 55. With hospice close by Martin went peacefully ending his nearly two-year battle with esophageal cancer. Martin was born on November 27, 1964 in Stanton, TX to Antonio and Catarina Gaviña.

In August 1981, he married Patricia Ritcheson. They raised four children together: sons, Augustin and Dominic, and daughters, Crystal and Catarena. Martin was a semi hauler for Official Fast Freight and enjoyed traveling on short and long-distance hauls while listening to music, audiobooks, and the Dallas Cowboys. Martin was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan and was passionate about watching the games whenever the Dallas Cowboys were playing, especially with his children and extended family. He was a notable food connoisseur that had a passion for traveling to Disneyland with his family every chance he could. Martin’s appreciation of new gadgets, games and movies was a wonderful hobby he shared with his children and grandchildren. He was also an enthusiastic music lover who prided himself on making sure he exposed his children to the classic songs of his time, so “they knew what great music was”. He was known for his ability to make friends with anybody, his jolly laugh and smile, and his happy go lucky personality sprinkled with a little stubbornness spirit.

Martin was preceded in death by his father, Antoñio, his mother, Catarina, sister, Soila (Nancy) Juarez, and sister-in-law Emma Gaviña.

Martin is survived by his wife Patty, his daughter Crystal and wife Ana; Son Augustin and wife Janette; Son Dominic and wife Misty; and daughter Catarena and husband Joe; and grandchildren Breanna, Michael, Jade, Anak, Marcus and Kai. He also leaves his brother Robert; brother Antonio and wife Carmen; brother Manuel and wife Pam; sister Sylvia and husband Beto; as well as several cousins, nieces, and nephews.
