Georgia Emily Kimmell, affectionately known as Yiayia, passed away on June 29, 2024, at 96, in Phoenix, Arizona. A cherished member of the local community and a devout attendee of the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral, she was known for her kind heart and unwavering generosity.
Emily was the second of four children and a Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church member since the day she was born. Her family was one of the church founding families, in which she took great pride. She was a member of St. Katherine’s Philoptochos Society for over 50 years.
Emily was far ahead of her time. She graduated from Phoenix Union High School, was married, and started her first of several businesses shortly after. She was the definition of a boss lady in all the senses.
Emily touched countless lives through her love of cooking and generosity. She was passionate about traveling, cooking, and caring for her grandchildren. Family meant everything to her. Her spirit exuded kindness and agape love to all those she came in contact with. Her laugh was infectious, and she could light up any room.
She leaves behind a legacy of love and joy, cherished by her large Greek family.
