Genevieve Margaret Girsch, 91 of Phoenix, died September 10, 2017. She was born January 12, 1926 in Chicago, Illinois to August and Mary Girsch. In childhood her illness was healed with Lourdes water. She worked and studied at Loyola University of Chicago, followed by a career in the Department of State Foreign Service. She was assigned to diplomatic posts in Greece, Malaysia, Mexico, the Philippines, France, Costa Rica, Viet-Nam, Germany, Saudi Arabia, Singapore and Peru. Genevieve was a long-time supporter of Eternal Word Television Network, the Radio Family Rosary and St. Vincent de Paul food program. She delighted in exploring her adopted state with a travel club, and enjoyed golf, reading, classical music, crossword puzzles and playing Scrabble. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, September 22 at 10:30 A.M. at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, 2312 E. Campbell Ave., Phoenix, with Visitation in the vestibule at 9:30 A.M. Interment follows at St. Francis Catholic Cemetery beside her parents, 2033 N. 48th Street, Phoenix.
