Mary Maxine Gout (80) passed away peacefully at home in Phoenix, Arizona on October 6, 2019, surrounded by her family.
Maxine was born in Graettinger, Iowa on April 5, 1939 to Vincent and Mabel (Sipes) Hassel. The family soon made their home in Estherville, where Maxine was the oldest of 14 children.

For the next several years she worked part time at a movie theater, Target and volunteered in the maternity ward at the Chandler Regional Medical Center.
Her entire life, Maxine was a pillar of strength for her family and friends. She was a strong and independent woman who was loved by all who knew her. Maxine was always the voice of reason, keeping everyone on a straight and moral path. She was a parishioner of St. Theresa Catholic Church in Phoenix and served as a Eucharistic Minister. Nana loved more than anything spending time with her grandkids and watching them grow. She loved family gatherings, attending her grandkids sporting events, reading, playing cards and puzzles.
