Guadalupe Urias

Guadalupe G. Urias born December 12, 1927 in Calexico, CA, passed away January 27, 2025 in Phoenix, AZ. Born to Juan Munoz Gonzalez and Maria Navarro Gonzalez. She was 1 of 9 (Celia, Johnny, Arnold, Lydia, Barney, Gil, Louie, Dora) siblings.

She is survived by her husband Gabe Urias of nearly 65 years, son Gabe Urias (Kathy), grandson Gabe Urias (Lauryn) and great-granddaughters Lyrik and Kodi.

In her younger years she worked farms, mainly in CA and helped her mom with the cooking and cleaning for the boarders they had. Always devoted to her family, as a young single woman, she worked selling shoes in downtown Phoenix and was able to buy a house in the Golden Gate barrio to allow her mom and younger siblings to have a place to call home while her father remained working in CA. This brought the family to the valley to be closer to relatives. She will be remembered as a classy woman who never over did her appearance, but she always made sure her appearance was beautifully presentable for the occasion. She showed her love and care for her faith, her husband, family, friends, coworkers, neighbors, and her dogs. She loved to cook, bake, garden, spend time with family and friends. She lived in Phoenix for most of her life and spent nearly 30 years of retirement in Payson, AZ. She loved keeping in touch with family near and far. She lived a good long love filled life and will be dearly missed.

 On Saturday, February 15, 2025, at St. Mary’s Basilica, 231 N. 3rd Street in Phoenix, a visitation will be held from 9 a.m. – 10 a.m. with a recitation of rosary prayers at 10 a.m. and a Mass to be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Burial to follow at St. Francis Catholic Cemetery in Phoenix.
