Alicia Guerra

Alicia Moreno Guerra died peacefully at the age of 81 with her husband, Alfonso, of 55 years beside her on March 19, 2012 in Phoenix Arizona. She was born on June 19, 1930 to Ramon and Josefina Moreno in Glendale California. In 1931 she and her family moved to Litchfield Park, Arizona where they lived in Camp 52. She worked for Goodyear Aerospace alongside her sisters where they made items for the blimp. She met the love of her life Alfonso Sierra Guerra in 1955 and they married on June 9, 1957. She had and raised 5 daughters. She volunteered at St Catherine School where the girls attended. She sold Avon, Tupperware and had home decorating parties. She did babysitting and cared for numerous family members including her grandchildren. She worked at a daycare center and retired from Hacienda De Los Angeles where she cared for many special needs children. She loved cooking for her family and made the best and hottest Green chili salsa which often was referred to as Jet Fuel, and the recipe goes with her. She loved music, singing and dancing especially the Mariachis. It was a part of her soul. She battled many years with Alzheimer’s and was cared for by her loving husband Alfonso who dedicated his life to her to make sure all her needs were taken care of, so she was safe and comfortable. She was preceded in death by her parents Ramon and Josefina, sisters Josefina, Beatriz, Virginia, Erminia, Maria, brothers Ramon and Eduardo. She is survived by her husband Alfonso Sierra Guerra, brother Rudy Moreno (Belen), daughters Veronica (Doug) Guerra, Lydia (Jim Cody) Williams, Lisa (Mitch) Callahan, Margaret, Theresa (Ty) Cornforth. Grandchildren Brittany Guerra, Timothy Luscombe, Justin, Jacob and Jesse Callahan, Matthew and Shelby Cornforth and Rosalind Williams. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.Visitation will be held on Monday, March 26, 2012 from 5-8pm with Rosary 7pm at Whitney & Murphy Funeral Home, 4800 E. Indian School Rd, Phoenix, AZ 85018. Funeral Mass Tuesday, March 27 at 10am St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, 6200 S. Central Ave, Phoenix, Interment Holy Cross Cemetery, 10045 W.
