82, of Phoenix, AZ. died on March 13, 2012. Born June 12, 1929 in Buffalo, New York, to Roderick and Charlotte Stafford. Attended Bennett High School in Buffalo and earned her BS at Buffalo State University. Phyllis arrived in Arizona with her family in 1964. She was a teacher at Wilson Central School in NY, substitute teacher and librarian at Camelback High School in the Phoenix Union High School District, and a teacher at Cyesis Center, where she helped teenage girls get a high school education both before and after they gave birth. She also enjoyed being a mother to her two children and a loving wife to her husband Bob. Phyllis also enjoyed her many pets, from Khaki, a dog that her husband gave her before leaving for the Korean War in 1952, to Sara, her best friend that she picked out at the pound because Sara “smiled at her.” Phyllis is survived by her husband Bob of 61 years, son Rod, daughter-in-law Ellen, son-in-law Fred Tegarden, grandchildren Christy Tegarden, Chelsea Raupers, grandson-in-law Joe Raupers, and Heather Haberer. Phyllis was preceded in death by her daughter Kathy Tegarden, who passed away just 11 days earlier. There will be a Celebration of Life for Phyllis Haberer and Kathy Tegarden from 12:00-4:00pm Saturday, March 17th at the Tegarden household. Please email susan_lugo@yahoo.com for details.
