Paul Douglas Hankerson

With great sadness, the family announces the passing of Paul Douglas Hankerson on Sunday, September 25, 2023 at the age of 68 after a long battle with cancer.

Paul was born on May 16, 1955 in Phoenix where he lived out his life. He was the fourth son of Fred and Esther Hankerson and graduated from Brophy College Preparatory in 1973.  He went on to study accounting at Northern Arizona University. Paul enjoyed photography, buying and selling antiques, silver and gold and whatever he took a fancy to at the time. In addition, he enjoyed traveling and seeing the world with his companion of many years, Ken Gould.  He often regaled family and friends about his multi-month trip to Europe with Ken where they enjoyed, of course, the best accommodations on the trains they took from one country to another.  His pictures of the trip are memorable and are of a quality you would find in a coffee-table book.

Paul is survived by his brothers Dennis and John Hankerson, nephews Mike, Steve, and Greg Hankerson, nieces Julie Moreno, Audrey Mead and Laura Hankerson and 2 more generations of nieces and nephews.

The funeral will be held at Whitney & Murphy Funeral Home, 4800 E Indian School Road on Saturday, October 7, 2023 at 12pm.
