It is with great sadness, we share the passing of Hector Velasquez, 89. Born in Phoenix, Arizona, he attended Phoenix Union High School and joined the Army’s 101st Airborne Division.
Hector later transferred to the 161st Air Refueling Wing stationed at the Arizona Air National Guard. He retired as a SMSGT from the U.S Air Force after serving for 43 years.
He is survived by his wife Judy Ellen Manion, his daughters Gwen Wood (Rob Meier) and Stacy Palmer (Rick), five grandchildren, Blanca, Grant, Ryan, Derik and Marisa, and two great-grandchildren, Ashlynne and Landon.
Visitation and Rosary will be at Whitney & Murphy Funeral Home, 4800 East Indian School Road, Phoenix, on Wednesday, September 4, 2024 from 4-7pm with Rosary beginning at 6pm.
A Catholic Funeral Mass will be he held at St. Agnes Catholic Church, 1954 North 24th Street, Phoenix on Thursday, September 5, 2024 at 10:30 am. Burial will take place at National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona, 2929 East Pinnacle Peak Road, Phoenix, following mass at 12:30 pm. In lieu of flowers, please support the Society of St. Vincent de Paul (www.stvincendepaul.net) or the Wounded Warrior Project (www.woundedwarriorproject.org).
