Jack Winston Heffron, beloved husband, father and grandfather, passed away unexpectedly on April 18th, 2021 in Phoenix, Arizona. He was 76 years old. Jack grew up in Dickinson, Texas, the middle of five children born to Emmitt and Fannie Mae Heffron. He served with the US Navy in Vietnam.
Jack was a skilled hunter, excellent chef and avid gardener. The quality and quantity of his tomato harvests were legendary, and he loved to share the fruits of his labor with family and friends. He liked to cook for others and was always happy to share a recipe or tip. There was almost nothing Jack couldn’t fix and as in so many other ways, he never minded sharing his time and talents. In particular, he liked sharing with his children, teaching them how to bait a hook, shoot a gun, prepare a fish fry, barbecue almost anything, tend a garden and enjoy sports. He also imparted the importance of a strong work ethic that is reflected in all of his children.
Jack never met a stranger. He enjoyed telling jokes and sharing a good laugh. He was a caring neighbor with a friendly nature that made others smile. Jack will be remembered and missed for his willingness to help others and for taking time to engage in friendly chats. Nothing meant more to Jack than his family. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and brother. We will all miss our long talks with him.
Jack is survived by his wife of 34 years, Laura and his four children, Andrea Jenkins (Aaron), Jackie Hroch (Joe), Megan Brock (Garett) and Matthew Heffron; grandchildren Joseph, Jacob and Libby Hroch and Lila and Cade Brock; siblings Patricia Marburger, Emmitt Heffron, Libby Wright and David Heffron, and many cousins, nieces, nephews and extended family. He will be missed greatly and fond memories of his kindness and sense of humor will not be forgotten.
