Rosemarie L. Hernandez “Rosie” passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 26, 2023, in Phoenix, AZ, after a long hard fight with cancer. Rosie was born March 21, 1957 to Mariano G. Hernandez & Hortensia Lavorin. She graduated Phoenix Union High school in 1975, and worked for the City of Phoenix for 30 plus years as well as mentoring abandoned and abused young girls. She also became a translator for multiple MLB teams.
She finally decided to live life as “Queen status’ and retire in June of 2019. She chose to travel…but only for a bit then decided to live as Queen Nana status. Rosie loved the simple things in life like dancing, laughing, eating, shopping, going to the movies, spoiling her grandkids and hanging out with friends.
She had an uncanny ability to reach people in a deep and positive way because she never lacked the ability to tell you what she was thinking, and by this she helped countless people receive citizenship, jobs, sobriety, education, food, clothes, and other necessities of life.
She is survived by her sisters Josie, Cynthia, and Monica; her brothers, Steve, Frank, Mike, John, Eddie, and Mark; all of her children Eddie, Sam, Robert, Santiago, and Alisa; her grandchildren Sancia, Tiago, Mila, Ariana, Isla, Kiersten, Romeo, EJ, Joe and Marcos. All of whom love her and will miss her dearly.
Memorial services in honor of Rosie and her beautiful life will begin with a visitation to be held at Whitney & Murphy Funeral Home at 4800 E. Indian School Road in Phoenix from 4:00pm -7:00pm with rosary prayers recited at 6pm on Wednesday, August 2, 2023. The following day a Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, August 3, 2023 at 10:00am at St. Gregory Catholic Church, 3424 N. 18th Ave, Phoenix.
