Anne P. Hynes, 100 years old of Scottsdale, Arizona died on March 7, 2012 at the Eckstein Center/Hospice of the Valley, Scottsdale. Anne was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Bernard Hynes Sr. She is survived by her son, Bernard Hynes, Jr.; two grand-daughters, Linda Sargent-Brown and Christine Hynes; her great grandson Liam Brown; and her sisters Stella Hebel and Alice Primavera. Anne was born in Brooklyn, New York in 1912. She attended Bishop McDonnell Memorial High School and St. John’s University where she received her undergraduate and Master’s Degree in French. She went on to teach for 30 years in Catholic elementary schools in Brooklyn and Queens, NY. Her last teaching assignment was at Our Lady of Hope School where she taught fourth grade. She loved teaching and loved her students even more, many of whom have kept in touch with her through the years. Anne retired in 1976. She and her husband Barney enjoyed an active retirement until his death in 1999. Anne moved to Arizona to be closer to her son and his family in 2001. She lived at Sierra Pointe Retirement Community the entire time she resided in Arizona. She had many friends whom she loved and cared about at Sierra Pointe, they made the last years of her life very enjoyable for her. Visitation will be from 4:00-6:00 p.m. Sunday afternoon, March 18th at Whitney & Murphy Funeral Home, 4800 E. Indian School Road. The Funeral Mass is planned for Monday, March 19th at St. Theresa Catholic Church, 5045 E. Thomas Road at 10:00 a.m. Anne will be buried with her husband in New York.
