Boris Innocenti was a long-time Arizona resident, SCUBA pioneer, World War II combat veteran, teacher, inventor, and entrepreneur who contributed a great deal to his community and to the world of diving. Born on April 14, 1924 in Chicago, Illinois to Italian immigrants, Boris moved to Phoenix with his parents in 1939. He graduated from Phoenix Union High School, attended Phoenix College, and after serving combat duty in the Army in World War II, he completed his education with a B.A. in physics from Berkeley and an M.A. in education from ASU. In 1954, Boris married his wife Rose, and in 1955, together they opened one of the first SCUBA stores in the nation. Boris was a beloved family man, teacher, friend to countless, and he will be deeply missed. He is survived by his four children, Celeste, Mark, Julie, and Paul Innocenti.
