Always remember Richard Itule Sr, June 19, 1944 – March 27, 2013. Our Dad, “papa” and best friend, passed away after enduring complications from a stroke and brief battle with colon cancer. Never has anyone experienced such a spirit as our Dad, as to us and many others in the community, he was bigger than life. As a Phoenix native, he lived most of his years as an entrepreneur in the produce business with his cousin Spencer Thompson and other members of the Itule family. He had a unique ability to charm anyone around him and could sell,
literally
, anything. He attracted many friends as he always lived each day to the fullest, was very relaxed and down-to earth. Our parent’s home was always a safe and comforting environment, not only for us and our friends, but for any guests. We learned our love of cooking the
best
Lebanese food from our Dad, as he cherished preparing meals for not only for our family, but anyone else who would allow him. He enjoyed fishing competitively (was often disappointed from the results) and looked forward to family NFL football on Sunday.
Although patience was not his virtue (a very ornery character most times) he taught us to be incredibly strong and proud. We acquired our ability to endure and embrace life to the fullest from both our Mom and Dad. Words could never impose our unique love for him! Although he will be missed terribly, he will be in our hearts daily. We are finally comforted knowing he will be in heaven forever with our Mom.
He is preceded in death by our mother Sharon, his parents Alfred and Selma Itule and his brother Sonny. He is survived by his sons Richie Jr. (Deborah) and Paul, daughter Lee (Chris Klasen), grandchildren Mark and Rachel Itule, and sisters Gigi Thomas and Maryleen Munguia. Never forget Richie, “Little Flower”, “mine is better” and whatever…. A Rosary will be held at 9:30am, followed by a Memorial Mass at 10am on Friday, April 5
th
, 2013 at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, 4715 N. Central Avenue, Phoenix, 85012.
